Using more women philosophers in teaching

Some colleagues from the Philippines and I have been talking about how we can encourage more Filipinos to read women philosophers. Dr. Jean Tan (Ateneo) has organized a series of webinars that target philosophy teachers in the Philippines. The aim of the series is to introduce the works of various women philosophers, and encourage teachers to draw more from their work. I was part of the first webinar, along with Dr. Taz Albano (Ateneo), and we discussed how we use the works of Eleonore Stump and Simone Weil, respectively, in our Philosophy of Religion core (general education) classes that target undergraduates. I enjoyed our informal discussion, and you can watch it (minus the Q&A part) here.

I attended the Philosophy of Education Society annual conference in the US this year. I've attended before, but only online (during the pandemic lockdowns), so it was my first time to attend in person
