It was a heart-filling reunion yesterday as Dr Kelly Agra (UP-Baguio) flew in to join our panel, along with Dr Pamela Joy 'PJ' Mariano Capistrano, at the Contacts and Continuities II conference at Ateneo de Manila. The interdisciplinary conference explores the American colonial period in the Philippines, and our panel explored the colonial logics of the American colonial education and its legacy.

PJ and I have been long-time friends and colleagues at Ateneo, and we began working with Kelly and other Philippine women philosophers during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. As Kelly noted nostalgically, when the three of us started collaborating with each other, we were all midway into our doctoral research (Kelly at University College Dublin, PJ at the University of Namur, and I at University College London). So, now that we had all, er, PhinisheD, it was a bit poetic that each of our presentations at our panel drew from our PhD research.
It was a great experience; and the responses and questions from the audience (both onsite and online) were thought-provoking. The three of us will be working together again in two weeks' time for a book talk about my forthcoming monograph, that De La Salle University is graciously hosting, and the Beyond the Ghetto is organizing. (Thanks, BTG and DLSU!)
